Insane Jane, based on the Bluewater/StormFront comic book of the same name is currently in development as a television series with Dollhouse alum Miracle Laurie as Jane and with screenwriter Tracy Morse (Creature) signed on.

The titular Insane Jane is a schizophrenic woman who thinks she has super powers and tries to use them to benefit the world. She inadvertently serves as her own nemesis on many occasions.

According to the producers, one of the challenges is featuring a character with severe schizophrenia. There are great opportunities to provide commentary on how we treat and perceive people battling mental health issues. Even though the material is often done tongue in cheek or for comedic effect, the central principle is that Jane, despite her challenges, is not the joke.

Screenwriter Morse comments, “Creating her world is like a tightrope suspended over a swimming pool filled with razor blades and marshmallows.” This will, if developed, make for some truly unusual television.
Although there is no development deal in place, Bohemia Group Originals & Miracle Laurie “anticipates several suitors given the original concept and the high quality of the content”

Insane Jane is available at a graphic novel at comic book stores, bookstores and online on Amazonon Powell’s, and Barnes & Noble
